Radiant Red Russula

Another Red Russula (not sure which). For my taste this is the best (and last) photo of mushrooms I've taken this fall season.
I hope I can get some during the winter season though.

This is what I like the most in autumn. The mushrooms and the colors. Here I have all together. Also, I love the silence when I walk through the forests.

I think this is a bloody brittlegill, Russula sanguinaria, as it is distinguished from the Sickener by having a reddish tinted stem. Wikipedia article says it tastes bitter and unpleasant.

Though Russula are challenging to identify to species without a sporeprint and examination of the spores under the scope as well, as i am sure you know, this may be a form of Russula sanguinea. Also helpful in that identification would be knowing the associated trees with which it is symbiant (which often change from region to region)... e.g. in some areas R. sanguinea associates with pines and possibly other conifers... while in many areas it is associated with oaks...

Awesome photograph, i just love the color... (and i am partial to mycorrhizal shrooms... lol... especially those that also associate not only with autotrophic trees, but often simultaneously with mycoheterotrophic plants as Russula often do...)

Your the second for this. I think it was. It was taken in a pine forest/evergreens.

I am not 100% pleased with the photo. It misses parts ot the stem. But I like it anyways.
